Sold my 2011 Cayman S. Here's some surplus stuff I'd like to place with a good home.

Bundle #1 Brake Calipers ($400)
- Two red front used replacement calipers for 996, 2000-2012 Boxster S/Cayman S, 997

- Two red rear used replacement calipers for 1997-presentBoxster, Boxster S, Non-S & Non Turbo 996, 997, Cayman S
- Two warped rear calipers (good for some pistons, parts).
- Various 60%+ front pads including some 90% Pagid Yellows.

Bundle #2 Wheels & Tires ($400)
- 18x8.5 silver moda 5-spoke wheels with 235/40/18 Potenza RE011 tires (Front)
- 18x9.5 silver moda 5-spoke wheels with 265/40/18 Potenza RE011 tires (Rears)
- Extra used front RE011.
- Tires have some laps left in them. Wheels will clean up nicely for track days.

Message me if you're interested in something. I am in Corpus Christi, but will drive to the Sarita rest stop to deliver stuff. Or I may be down for the March DE. Then there is always shipping.

What do you learn in PCA events - what do you learn in SCCA events?

Stay in your car. The yellow flag had been flown after the vehicle crash...when Kevin Ward stepped from his vehicle, his life was in his own hands. Then he did the unthinkable - he walked out onto the track to confront Tony Stewart on the muddy track - in a black driving suit at night.

Tragedy was inevitable?

When you watch that video, view it from the perspective of a driver - then a safety official - then finally from the perspective of a spectator.

What should have happened? Ward should have remained in his car. Yellow flag goes to black, cars pit in competitive order. The field crew goes to check on Ward's car. Everyone lives.

Unless your car is on fire...you are safest in it.

Truly sad.

Faced with the rising costs having group dinners at King's Inn and the general hassle of trying to reserve, commit, and pre-order for their family style service, I would like to open discussion on other venues.

Tops on my suggestion list is Falfurrias...yes, the home of the fighting Jerseys. Land of sweet butter. Very central to folks from Corpus Christi AND the reaches of the Valley.

Stricklands is a fine little restaurant that I used to frequent when drilling wells in Starr Co. Falfurrias was a great stop to eat, gas up, and visit the famous curandero*. The little downtown and Brooks Co. courthouse are pretty neat. It's a little longer drive for CC people...shorter for some Valley folks. I have thought about it for years as a possible meeting spot for the Region.

What's good about Stricklands is that they have a 60+ person area for $40 security. They will do individual/couple/family/table checks plus gratuity. They have beer and you can bring your choice(s) of wine(s). drinks.gif Their food is reasonably priced and you order what you want from the main menu or special menu...very flexible. I would expect that each meal would be about $15 all in versus the $30/person that we'll have to charge at Kings Inn this year. big_boss.gif

They had me at the individual checks.

There are other places in Falfurrias - not much better or seeming more accomodating.

Thoughts? Experiences with Stricklands?

Notional date: August 9th.

*Yes, I have been there... shok.gif
