well once again i got my subie running, i spent another 40 hours or so tearing it down looking for why it was sputtering under boost and running like absolute crap. I started by redoing timing and it was ok had not left tensioner loose. Tested it and ...crap. Then went to Maf sensor changed it from my multitude of dead motors and...crap. Then front o2 sensor and IACV....crap. Then after checking 10 times for any vacuum leaks found i had a good header leak again blowing past gasket. Tightened bolts ran it....crap. Ok must be internal head gasket or cracked something in motor went to do compression test and found 1 spark plug was completely fouled and the anode had bent where there was no gap or spark!! Put new plugs and ran it.....eureka!! runs good. Three cylinders not good. Oh forgot took turbo out no fewer then three times and almost mailed it in to majestic but tested with stock turbo and you guessed it...crapola. Spark plugs can mimick engine failure. Still I think the prior mechanic jammed too hard on that plug as it is in blind location and bent it. Otherwise it got pinged by a valve or the dreaded detonation. But the way it runs now i think it was faulty install. No evidence of metal to metal on plug.

After spending the year fixing and with the fading memory of one yellow Z06 I drove for a week,I found me a used 08 with 5k miles and a clear bra. Nevermind the red I'm otd at 41.5K. Got 7k for my sti with 142 k miles not bad they will pay to have it shipped to KS and i pay 500 bucks COD for a practically new Z06 vette arriving to my door. Aint Ebay great. No nav, heated buns, shiny wheels just what counts.....tire melting goodness. But for now no track duty as no clue how to drive it fast yet. But with that clear bra it's a matter of time. And this time i am coming out in march no matter what if not to watch. Yes I never liked vettes but the value is good. A friggin new STI was 40 k....geez forget that.

thanks bassam, the one thing your car has that the vettes don't have is good steering feel. When you go around corners you get a much better feed back. The vettes have that numb rental car feeling in the steering. We'll try it anyway, at this price im not upside down on car and if i don't like it i can get rid of it.

Oh I'm sure that when you go for that first lap and mash that accelerator and feel all 505 hp kicking you in the ass you will have a very large smile on your face.

reminds me of the autobahn, would hit about 142MPH in my AWD turbo eclipse there. Germans would pass me in thier family sedans and grin at me. ahh but if only the Z06 were there then...
