5 McAllen drivers are interested in our DE-TT.
Will controlled slides through each turn be allowed by PCA & FAA?

We'd need to organize a special run group for them, might need to be more than just two cars to be "cost/time effective".
Plus, we'd need to check with PCA on the legality of it.

would be cool to watch. The tires would be toasted in 5 laps at cameron. They better bring about 3 sets.

Special permission??

All we need to do is instruct on the effects of trailbraking into a turn, over load the fronts, unload rears, induce early throttle application thus leading to an oversteer condition with increased steering angle. That's all. It actually has a degree of technical application.

Special permission??

If we run a drifting (or any other) event under PCA without their approval, we (the club officers) are NOT covered by PCA liability insurance.
Let's say one of them "ricers" flips his car and gets killed or gets a spinal cord injury. Him or his family can then sue anyone (or all) of us for wrongful death, etc.
So you see, it's not as easy as just letting them run. That's what we get for being such a litigious society.

GG:

In essence, if done correctly, we engage in controlled slides (~10% slip angle). Now exaggerated slip angles, suppose that is a different story....

You guys come close to drifting anyways at the turns. HD almost had a perfect one, and it looked awesome.
Liability lawsuits can happen anywhere, anytime, and even when you are not around.
Even with the sign in roster that we have, anyone can come up with a lawsuit on the way, during, or after the event.
Just saying, if you don't try to adapt to the environment then no more customers, no revenue.
Now that I'm on this, the Lonestar club even had 4X4 trail events for the Cayannes.
Does it have to be speed all the time?

V/r

Juan

Was wondering on this myself, been helping a friend build a drift car and he wanted to ask the same thing.

Completely stripped down, one seat, cut dash torn town Mark 3 87 toyota supra. Its horribly slow but sweet jesus it drifts and puts on a show. Dam thing has cats and it still backfires like mad.
