yeah it was fun. not that bumpy really. don't know how it would be on a more stiffly sprung car (i was driving my buddies boss) but you can definitely go really fast on it. some peeps are worried about racing on the banking being dangerous, i almost think it would make turn 1 more dangerous because of the increased speeds. if you were pushing it on the banking, i have no doubt you could run 20-30mph faster by the end of the front straight.

here's a vid from joe woodhead's vette.

hey everybody, just wanted to say i now know how you guys are so fast. your on cheater tires! lol j/k, but really i finally drove on a set of fresh 225/45/15 R6 hoosiers (1 new i won @ narra race, 1 scrub only, and 2 with 2 heat cycles) and the trouble i had dropping a tenth or less to break 2:00 laps on nt-01's was dumb compared to the easy low 1:54 i ran on sunday. due to the rain on saturday, i was @ 10psi for the 1st dry session on sunday and still ran a 1:55 with only 210whp! i think i even had the TTA class record for a little while until tim ray (TTA 2011 champion) beat it with a 1:53.xx I think with a little more practice on the hoosiers and better conditions (it was 44 deg. and a strong headwind on the back straight) a 1:52 is possible. my butt lap timer said i ran 1:59's maybe 1:58 if i was lucky. that's how easy they felt.

oh yeah, i also won the miata challenge event and championship on saturday, by beating my buddy in the ls1 miata. i even got him by 2 sec. on sunday when he bolted on his brand new 245/580/15 hoosier r80's! was pretty stoked about that.

last but not least, we drove the 3.1 grand prix course for a session on sunday. after turn 10, instead of busting a left, you go straight out onto the start of turn 3 (big oval banking) and the view out your windshield looks crazy! all you see is a wall and a crazy curve that seems to go forever. i had to leave early to close the shop in corpus so i was gonna miss it, but my buddy jake pulled up and forced me to take his boss out for a lap and experience it. i'm glad he did! hopefully some guys will have some video up soon, but i can tell you that 110mph on the banking felt like 60. some of the guys were topping 5th gear BEFORE the end of turn 4!

when that time comes and your life flashes before your eyes, what will you see?
your wife, kids, friends, and that test you took? papers you wrote? or that high speed drift @ cameron?
think about it. there's always a little time for the track.

i have set of blk. konig feather wheels for sale. they have 205/50/15 bfg racing slicks mounted on them. the wheels are in great shape, only a few scratches where the lugs go. the tires were brand new sticker tires before last weekend. they literally have 3 sessions with 3 hot laps each on them. they're barely scrubbed in. these are not the dot R1's, these are straight racing slicks, long wear and don't heat cycle out. they wear like the R1's, but more grip. asking $650 obo for the set. may separate depending on the offer. shipping extra. i'm in corpus christi. we have a fedex acct. i can use at my work, so you get a decent rate if needed. here's a few pics.

oh yeah, the wheels are very light, you can see them on goodwin racing site, they're 11.8lbs iirc.
this setup is perfect for a miata, honda/acura, or orther small 4x100 bolt pattern car. 1st gen mr2, etc...
EDIT: the wheels are actually konig heliums, 11.4lbs. 40mm offset

i would say: "get out and drive!" all the mods in the world won't do shit if you can't drive the car right. if you spend 6 months putting on a bunch of parts (or saving up for them) your already 6 months behind! 1 mod at a time and test it to verify it did good, not bad which is very possible no matter what the box says! lol..

this happened to my friend. he got sick of the car and sold it without ever tracking it. he never got a day of emjoyment from it because it was always taken apart waiting for just "1 more part". 200 parts, thousands of dollars, and 3yrs. later he sold it at a loss in pieces. next guy got it running nearly stock and has enjoyed it auto-x'ing and street driving for 2 years without a problem.

Looking for small rear wheel drive car. Mostly miata or rx7. Don't need engine.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you to_become_senile.gif

is this for a track car? if yes, then i might have something for you. i have a miata that has been sold twice, the original owner lost the title and never gave it to the people i got it from. i could give you a bill of sale and you could apply for a lost title or something if you wanted to make it a street car. it runs though with working ac so i don't know how cheap a car your looking for. what engine are you gonna use?

set of 4 nt-01 r-compound tires. just getting to the slick part of tread for most traction. great for autocross or trackday. still have lots of track days left depending on your weight/power. these aren't like hoosiers, won't get hard with heat cycles. these stay sticky until corded. $600 new, i'll take $125 obo. pm or call 361-249-5910 cell, 361-991-2055 work. ask for jz

I'm glad you guys had fun till the fire cut it short. I only managed a 1:28 flat in traffic 2nd session. Luckily I was invited back Sunday by a buddy that's a member there. 1st session I beat my previous best by a tenth, 1:27.8, 2nd session 1:27.4, last session I got my tire pressure where I wanted and raised the boost. About 40whp more than usual and busted out a 1:26.2
Good enough for the miata record there. My buddy that invited us out Sunday didn't appreciate it though. He has the ls1 miata with the double wing and had just reset the record at 1:26.5 a couple months back.

Many clubs struggle with volunteer events and have issues, amongst them seems to have been burnout, personal conflict, and a loss of shared commitment to the core activities of the club. I don't really like using fees as a punishment to require an experienced member to help out because it makes it about money...some folks have plenty of that. What will make our events fun is participation - not just the driving, but the doing. We need to fold everyone in their best role.

that is 100% bullshit. nothing could be further from the truth, and all of the (last) corpus pca crew and i take offense to that statement. that may have happened to the original group of pca officials though. i was there for the first event in Oct. 2006 after the navy allowed the pca to use cabaniss again in 2006. Only a few of the old guard were there. over the nesxt few events attendance was low maybe 10-15 cars. because of this, the entry fee was $125-150 but it was cheap compared to nasa hpde which was the only group i had ran with prior. In December at the monthly meeting, ending the cabaniss pca events was discussed. My frnds Brian Stubblefield, Joshua Garcia, Chuck Dearing and i were in attendance and couldn't believe what we were hearing. We finally were able to run track events in town after years and it was about to go away? Luckily, Brian stepped up and agreed to be the regional director, and the rest of us took up the supporting roles. We had help from Jack Mckenzie and Peter Kendig for the first couple events and took it from there. All of our events were very successful. With promotion from flyers, posting on many of the car forums in the region, and reduced pricing ($50-60) due to a drastic reduction in expenses, we were able to immediately grow the avg. car count from 15 to 60 with a peak of over 80 entrants! Even though the entry fee was low, with the car count so high, we were banking big $ each event. The regions bank acct. went from depleted (after the awesome christmas party the old crew threw) to a pretty sizeable amount when we closed up shop here and sent the the amount to the rgvpca. The only reason we don't have PCA events here is because of the new stalk mounted landing lights the navy put up around the entire cabaniss airfield. As a matter of fact, our last event there had track config. dictated by the fact that they had already started installing those landing lights.

If your intent was to scare the rgv guys into action with that story, it shouldn't have been at our (the corpus PCA crew) expense.
If you thought that was the real story, you should get your facts straight randy. But i don't think thats the case since you were around when this was going down. I know you didn't like cabaniss because of the surface, but that didn't stop us from having pretty huge fields each event and a sh!t load of fun.

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that there will be a HPDE for blue group (approved for solo) and up drivers. This is also the 1st time that the Tx. Miata Challenge will be independantly run. We've been piggy backing on Nasa Tx events so far. So there will (hopefully) be a gang of miata's there in miata challenge, a few hpde groups, and a spec miata group, including a "mock" race at the end of the day. Pricing will include timing if you want it using their new rfid tags, and lunch will also be provided to all registered drivers. Should be alot of fun. Btw, sign up as early as you can. I have only posted this on miata forums/boards so far, but Eric will be advertising this everywhere soon.

sign up or for event info goto: www.clubregistration.net

Oh, one last thing, don't forget that H2R has a 99db noise limit (i believe @ 30ft) If you think your close make arrangments for an on-track solution. A bolt on rear section/mufller or turndown come to mind. Not sure what those spec miata's are gonna do, they are usually crazy loud!

See you at the track!

the car weight on the door tag is not the actual weight of the car. I believe it's the gross weight.

thank you bassam. finally somebody that understands that tag. it's gross vehicle weight rating (gvwr) to be exact. that tells you what the vehicle + all the occupants (2 if it's a 2 seater, 4 people if it's a 4 seater, etc) + their luggage would weigh. can't remember what avg. weight they use per person but i think it's about 165lbs. that weight is important to know for the proper load rating when buying tires.
