Hello, All

I'm new on the forum and want to introduce myself, my name is Jose Luis Gomez and
I've recently bought an 1973 911 that needs lots of care, so when I found this forum,
joined inmediately in order to learn from your experiences, and also waiting for the
moment to participate in a DE event.

Happy New Year for all of you and sorry for my bad English.

Hi Jose,
I'm not a member or a Porsche owner but I have attended many of the events and these are great people. ok.gif Several of the members own older Porsche's and will gladly suggest what you need to do to find parts or technicians to help bring your baby back to life. wizard.gif Don't worry about your English, many of the members speak Spanish, (not me) and if you can not find the right English just use Spanish and they will help.
One site the members always recommend is http://www.rennlist.com/. This site has a great deal of information on Porsche's of all ages.
On your web browser you can add a Google tool bar and it has the option of a spell check in Spanish and English. I am a poor speller and use it all the time.
If you can try to come to one of the meetings or events. Laie_68.gif The locations and dates are on the rgvpca.org site. I think you will enjoy meeting the members of the club. I know traffic at the border can be overwhelming on bad days but others from NL come to many of the events I hope you can make it too.
I had wanted to get a 911 this winter but the economy has caused me to change plans. I went the cheap route, with a 1990 Miata. As I progress I will post what I have done on this forum. Until I get razzed off. It would be interesting if you and others would post their progress on their cars too.

Happy New Year,

Bill

Jose, welcome to the forum. I can help you out with parts sources, techs, and ideas. I have a 69 911. Hope to see you at the event on the 17th of January. Come to the event, even if your car is not ready. Maybe even take a ride with " look ma no hands ". It's an inside joke so come and we'll explain. Oh, as Bill said, most everybody speaks Spanish, some are kind of hard to understand because they speak a little funny.

Sorry Bassam I did not mean to start a fight, correct Spanish is different for different regions of Spanish speaking countries including Spain. I'm sure what you speak is correct somewhere. wink.gif
Now as for my English I try to be as unique as possible, crazy.gif of course this leads to many incorrect assumptions about my sanity. tease.gif

Hi Bassam, Your 996 would have been just what I was looking for especially with the GT3 seats. They would have been worth a bonus. In Nov. of '07 I had a premonition of what was to come and changed my investments to a more conservative form. That meant less play money. I plan to spend in the range of $15000 on the Miata. rofl.gif Well that is the plan now, we all know how that works out.
It will take a while to restore the car before I start buying the engine mount kit and engine etc. I will save a little and buy a part do some work save some more until it's finished. I like having a project to work on and this will take a while. Now with the offer of a ride from Patrick I can go to a few events in the cool months. JC_fan.gif

Thank you all for the warm welcome and for all the help offerings.
I'll try to learn the forum's "etiquete" real soon for not saying or
doing something incorrect or inappropiate. I also participate on
some 4x4 forums where the newbies can be treated with extreme
rudeness when they make some mistake, I'm sure this is not the
case on this forum, but, just for being in the safe side smile.gif
I'm looking forward to attend the DE event, for sure not with the
911, because it doesn't even have license plates, perhaps the GLI
could be a good option, but more than for any other reason,
to have the oportunity for meeting the gang.

Thank you very much

JL

Not to worry as we are just a bunch of track junkies having some fun - safe fun on the track mostly and some fun on the forum in between events....

Plenty of technical expertise as well.....

There are a few ways to make the frown face. When I broke a drill bit and punched the stub through the corner of my finger I made a frown face. A more pleasant way is to look at the top of this form and click on the down arrow by the smiley face and you will see several choices. sorry.gif spiteful.gif treaten.gif hysteric.gif girl_mad.gif girl_cray2.gif cray.gif mad.gif sad.gif :<( :=( :{
