Practice 2 results very interesting:

http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/8/9832.html
Lewis fastest, Romain Grosjean (new driver of Renault, straight from GP2, only on his second outing EVER in a F1 car) came in with a very repectable 5th fastest time. His co-driver, and ex-world champion Fernando "crybaby" Alonso, came in 14th! The Brawn cars are a big surprise at 17th and 18th. Qualifying will be very interesting!
Also the weather forecast is for no rain on sunday, kind of an anomaly for Spa.
It's amazing that the first 19 cars are separated by a little over 1 second!!!
The 20th car, the Ferrari driven by Luca Badoer, was 1 second behind the 19th car. Shameful.
I think that Schumi would have done better, busted neck and all.

Racing and testing are entirely different animals. This will probably be Badoer's last race. Too bad, I was cheering for the underdog.

Correct on both counts. Qualy will be very interesting.
There's been some rumors about Ferrari considering Giancarlo Fisichella as a replacement for Badoer.
Ferrari would love to have an italian driver.

I know that Badoer doesn't sound Italian, more like French, but believe it or not he is. Fisichella would be a good choice. What is funny, is that Massa and Barrichello are also Italian names.

Badoer trashed the car in qualifying. Just goes to show how few drivers are able to race F1 and what a difference there is between cruising around a track and racing.

Great race overall. Man, what an audition for Fisichella!!!
I bet his chances of driving a Ferrari at Monza in 2 weeks are very good.
He was faster than Kimi in a "lesser" car. It's a pity he couldn't pass him.
I guess this proves that there's a lot of substance to the rumors:

Usually when they issue such strong "denials" it means that it's a done deal.

Last couple of races have been pretty close, let's hope it continues to be competitive.

Renault may be on it's last leg too.
On the flip side, there's gonna be a couple new teams, USF1, and Campos.
The series will survive. Too much money is invested.
