Ok, as per Carreras request let's run some numbers here, just for the heck of it:

Power-to-weight ratio (specific power) is a calculation commonly applied to engines and mobile power sources to enable the comparison of one unit or design to another. Power-to-weight ratio is a measurement of actual performance of any engine or power sources. It is also used as a measure of performance of a vehicle as a whole, with the engine's power output being divided by the curb weight of the car, to give an idea of the vehicle's acceleration.

Let's start with me, so nobody is offended

My car (2202 996TT X50):
weight 3494 lbs (1584.85 kg)*Porsche figures
horsepower 450 hp (335kW)*Porsche figures
power/weight ratio: 0.13 hp/lb (211W/kg)

Spidey's car (Porsche 550 Spyder replica):
weight 1200 lbs (544.31 kg) *estimate based on the actual weight of my Spyder replica
horsepower 140 hp (104 kW) *estimate based on my Spyder's hp (160hp)
power/weight ratio: 0.12 hp/lb (191W/kg)

Just for reference:
Chevrolet Corvette C6 P/W:223W/kg
Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZO6 P/W: 265W/kg
Lotus Exige P/W:206W/kg
McLaren F1 GT P/W:403W/kg
Formula 1 car (2006 model) P/W:962W/kg
*source: Wikipedia <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-to-weight_ratio" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-to-weight_ratio</a>

What's my point?
There's nothing wrong with Spidey's car.
As a matter of fact, it should be one of the fastest cars in our group, based on above calculations (it's got roughly the same P/W as a Lotus Exige, in a similar mid-engine design, ie: very stable at speed). Hell, it's got 91% of my P/W ratio, so it should be able to at least post similar times! Any significant differences would be explained by "other factors" (tire adhesion, suspension differences, driver proficiency, etc).

Oh, I know there's nothing wrong with his car. that's the whole point. It's not the car, it's the part behind the steering wheel. wink.gif

Nah. Patrick is just lulling us into a false sense of security. You know how elders tend to favor elaborate schemes. Once we let our guard down... BAAMM! TTOD blink.gif

age and treachery will always beat youth and vigor.

also with increasing speed there is greater drag and therefore requires more power to push the wind alone, so on a slow track spidey should be right there but on a high speed track won't the power deficiency become an impediment.

I think that these are two classic versions of this song, it's probably the most popular Mexican drinking song.

Next year maybe, I can get scary faster or is it faster con furious.

1550, that's only 700 lbs lighter than my car, with glass fenders, lighter glass hood, glass doors, lexan, I could get it under 1900, but then it would be a motor boat.

Well, you can only actually read the "online previews" (two selected articles each issue) if you are not a subscriber. I'll make you copies or better yet, try to scan the darn thing. Give me some time, though.

estimated 280 HP ( optimistic) 2200 lbs, I get 0.1272, hey that's the same as a red spyder, then why do I lap it twice in 20 minutes?

I don't know, maybe twice the tire width and 40 wear factor instead of 200.
